About Carrie Bourdeau

Carrie is an artist currently situated in Las Vegas, Nevada. Carrie has been producing art for as long as she can remember.  As a child, she would paint and draw on stacks and stacks of discarded computer paper from her dad's work at AT& T in Eureka, California.

Being raised in a rural setting provided both the time and the opportunity to gain close up experience with animals, plants and a variety of landscape textures.  Northern California offered endless hours, uninterrupted, to sit and create.  She can remember creating techniques for doing cellulose image transfers by the time she was attending elementary school.

Throughout her school years, Carrie won several awards in art shows and competitions including a first place ribbon for a collage entered into the Ferndale Fair  in 1995.  At College of the Redwoods and at Humboldt State University, Carrie excelled in her art classes as well as French and speech communication.

Carrie's life journey carried her through a creative career in cosmetology and to the Bay Area as a makeup artist.  Eventually,  Carrie enrolled in law school at Golden Gate University, School of Law in San Francisco, California, where she graduated with honors and was a member of the Law Review.

Her legal career led her to Las Vegas, Nevada and eventually to an "in house" attorney position.  However, a balance was necessary and in 2009, Carrie countered legal research and argument  with high grade canvas and a multitude of paint mediums.

Carrie was welcomed into the local art community as a vibrant and dedicated artist.  She was invited to be the featured artist at City of the World Art Gallery in the heart of the Las Vegas arts district in March of 2009.

Since that time she has exhibited work at City of the World Gallery,  Studio 8Ten and Blackbird Studios in Las Vegas.

Carrie's style has been described as "adventurous," "vivid" and "soulful." Her heart and her passion for painting pour into her work.  The theme of her next show in June 2011is "Guardians" and will feature gargoyles, gnomes, knights, a Madonna, angels, junk yard dogs, locks, toggles, latches, and buckles as well as 25 ~ 6 x 6" paintings of nests from  "The Nest Project."

Carrie's eclectic themes include subjects as varied as landscapes, florals, statuary, hardware, skulls, deserts, prairies, botanicals, animals, Day of the Dead, European scenes, school buses, and nature in general.  She also creates handmade bird nests and altered books.

Don't be too quick to analyze the technique or the popularity of the artist.

I am passionate about life, beauty and my craft. That passion is conveyed onto the canvas. Done well, feelings, personalities and emotions shine through - creating memories that will last for generations. ~Carrie Bourdeau

Sometimes stark and lonely, sometimes sensual, sometimes whimsical. See if you find something that tickles your fancy. ~Carrie Bourdeau
